Yummly shut down. Here's where your recipes can go.

If you're reading this because Yummly stopped working, you're not imagining it — Yummly was discontinued in December 2024, and its recipe-recommendation and grocery-list features are gone. A lot of people who relied on it for years are now looking for something to replace it, and most of what's out there is either a bare-bones recipe box or a subscription meal-kit upsell in disguise.

What Yummly did well

It's worth being fair about what people are actually missing. Yummly was good at suggesting recipes you might like based on your tastes and dietary preferences, and it turned the recipes you saved into a combined grocery list. For a lot of households it was the one place their recipes lived and the thing that decided "what's for dinner" on a weeknight. Replacing it isn't about finding a single feature — it's about getting that whole loop back: collect recipes, decide what to cook, and shop for it without re-typing everything.

What's actually different with Logiciated

Logiciated isn't a Yummly clone, so it's worth being upfront about what's different rather than promising a like-for-like swap:

  • What carries over: a structured way to collect and search recipes, a weekly meal planner, and a shopping list generated from what you're planning to cook.
  • What's new: you can build your recipe library from a photo of the finished dish, not just a URL — snap a photo of something you cooked (or ate somewhere), and get back a full, structured recipe. You can also import from a blog, Instagram, or TikTok post, with a link back to the original creator.
  • What Yummly didn't really do: translate recipes. If your household cooks in more than one language, or you're importing recipes written in a language you don't read fluently, Logiciated translates across 20 languages — including the units, not just the words, so a recipe doesn't come out asking for a nonsensical quantity of an ingredient.

Getting your old recipes back

there's no getting around this part — Yummly never offered a bulk export, and it closed without a migration path, so if you didn't download recipes one at a time yourself before December 20, 2024, that data's gone. The realistic path forward is rebuilding as you go: by URL where a recipe's still posted somewhere else, or by photographing a dish next time you cook it.

In practice that's less painful than it sounds. Most people's core rotation is a couple of dozen dishes, not hundreds — snap each one the next time you make it and your library rebuilds itself over a few weeks of normal cooking. Where the original recipe is still online, pasting the link brings it in with the ingredients and method already structured, and blog, Instagram and TikTok links all work too, with a credit back to the original creator.

Why this won't happen to you again

What we can promise is this won't happen to you again on our end: Logiciated has a one-click export of your entire recipe library — real structured data, not just a printable file — built specifically because stories like Yummly's happen. You're never locked in here.

Everything runs in a normal web browser as a progressive web app, so there's nothing to buy per device and nothing to reinstall when you switch phones. One subscription — US$6.99 a month, tax inclusive, after a 14-day free trial with no credit card, one plan, no upsells — covers every device you sign in on.
